Workspaces
Your company account in RefRef - members and roles, what owners and admins can do, API keys, and switching between Workspaces.
A Workspace is your company's account in RefRef. It owns your Projects, your Workspace API keys, your RefRef plan, and, if your company is also a partner of other businesses, your partner record.
Your first Workspace
Each person who signs up gets a personal Workspace and is its owner. Create your Projects in it, or join the Workspace of your company through an invitation. A person can be a member of several Workspaces. The Console sidebar switches between them.
Roles
| Role | Can do |
|---|---|
owner | Everything an admin can do, plus record the resolution of an uncertain billing delivery and handle data requests |
admin | Create Projects and Programs; change rules, terms, delivery, the Widget design, join pages, and integrations; manage API keys, webhooks, custom units, and partners; enroll customers; void Rewards; approve AI assistant changes |
member | Read the Console. A member cannot see the client secret or manage API keys. |
The Console hides the controls that your role cannot use, and the server refuses those operations. A role applies to the whole Workspace: there is no role for one Project.
Manage people in Workspace settings → Members.
API keys
API keys belong to the Workspace, not to a person. Owners and admins create them in Developers → API keys of a Project, or in Workspace settings → API:
- Select Create key.
- Enter a Name, choose the Environment (Live or Sandbox), and choose the Expiry.
- Copy the key. RefRef shows it once. A Live key starts with
refref_live_, a Sandbox key withrefref_sandbox_.
A Live key reaches the Live Projects of the Workspace; a Sandbox key, the Sandbox Projects. You can revoke a key from the list. See API overview.
Plan
Your RefRef plan belongs to the Workspace. Every member can read it in Workspace settings → Billing; owners and admins change it. The plan limits the number of Projects, Programs, and seats, and the monthly active participants of the Live Projects. When a Workspace stays over its participant limit after a full month, new referrals and enrollments in its Live Projects wait until it upgrades or a month closes under the limit. Sandbox Projects are not paused.
Partners and Workspaces
A partner of another business uses its own Workspace in the Partner app. Joining as a partner never makes you a member of that business's Workspace. See Partners.
