WooCommerce

Connect a WooCommerce store with the RefRef plugin - consent-based capture, paid orders and refunds as facts, friend offers, referrer coupons, and customer sharing.

The RefRef plugin is not on WordPress.org yet. To get the plugin ZIP, contact us.

The RefRef plugin connects one WooCommerce store to one RefRef Project. It captures referral clicks with the shopper's consent, sends paid orders and refunds to RefRef, and delivers Rewards as native WooCommerce coupons. You need no API key.

Requirements

  • WordPress 7.0 or later, PHP 8.3 or later, and WooCommerce 10.9.4 or later.
  • The store runs on HTTPS.
  • A RefRef Project used only by this store.

Connect

  1. In WordPress, upload the plugin ZIP on the Plugins page, and activate it.
  2. Open WooCommerce → RefRef and select Connect RefRef. The page shows the environment: a production WordPress site connects to Live, any other site to Sandbox.
  3. The RefRef Console opens Connect WooCommerce. Sign in, choose the Workspace and the Project, and select Approve connection. You must be an owner or admin of the Workspace. The Project's environment must match the store.

The first connection sets the Project's landing page URL to the store and makes the Project accept only new customers as referees.

Choose the Program

In the Console, open the Project's Settings → Integrations. In the store's block, choose the referral Program and the Referrer coupon hold (days), 30 by default, and select Save store Program. RefRef then delivers the Program's discount Rewards as coupons.

In the Program, publish the referrer's percentage discount and the friend offer. Store coupons do not combine with other coupons.

What the plugin does

AreaBehavior
CaptureAsks for referral-tracking consent before it captures a click. With the WordPress Consent API, marketing consent must also allow it.
IdentificationA customer account's first order identifies the browser's handle to the customer. A guest order never does.
OrdersA payment that completes through WooCommerce's payment hook becomes a purchase Event, with the paid total, tax, and the customer's paid-order count. Shipping and fees are not commissionable.
RefundsEach product-allocated refund becomes a refund adjustment. A cancellation alone is not a refund.
Friend offerA referred shopper gets a single-use coupon, bound to the browser that followed the link
Referrer RewardsA percentage coupon bound to the referrer's account, issued after the hold
SharingA sharing action and the referral history in My Account and on the thank-you page, and the [refref] shortcode
PrivacyThe WordPress personal data exporter and eraser include the RefRef records

A processing or completed order status alone, for example cash on delivery, does not count as paid. A gateway that does not call WooCommerce's payment hook needs its own integration.

If you deactivate the plugin, its RefRef coupons expire.

Plan status

WooCommerce → RefRef also shows your RefRef plan and links to Open RefRef Billing in the Console.
