What this structure costs on your numbers
Take a plan of £50 a month: £600 in the first 12 months, at a 70% gross margin. Keeping half of the gross profit leaves a reward budget of £210 for each referred customer. These are example figures, not Tide's.
With Tide's structure, the rewards for one referred customer cost £200. For 100 referred customers, if 50% would not have bought anyway, the program returns £1,000 of net contribution (5% ROI). It breaks even when 47.6% of referred customers are new because of it.
