More from Backblaze's terms
Backblaze contacts the referred friend to ask for consent before inviting them.

What this structure costs on your numbers
Take a plan of $50 a month: $600 in the first 12 months, at a 70% gross margin. Keeping half of the gross profit leaves a reward budget of $210 for each referred customer. These are example figures, not Backblaze's.
With Backblaze's structure, the rewards for one referred customer cost $100. For 100 referred customers, if 50% would not have bought anyway, the program returns $11,000 of net contribution (110% ROI). It breaks even when 23.8% of referred customers are new because of it.
Free time
Start from the “A free month for both” template
The friend starts with free time on a paid plan; the customer who sent them gets credit or free time too.
- Create a free RefRef account and add your Project.
- Create a Program from the “A free month for both” template.
- Set the rewards: 1 month for the referrer, 1 month for the new customer, or your own amounts.
- Install the landing script and send the signup and purchase Events. RefRef connects each customer to their referrer and records the Rewards.
